Simple as that may be.It's very short, and not hard. The gameplay is fairly intuitive. The game can be glitchy at times, for example I once fell through the floor but didn't die. Luckily the chapters are short and it saves inbetween so little time is lost.Overall I think it's a good example of atmosphere usage. It's not expensive so overall you get your worth. I'd recommend this for horror fans who want a cheap but good experience.I hope the developer hones their technique and makes more. They have great potential.. Strange and boring game. Not scary in the least. All you do is move. There is no inventory, there are no puzzles, just moving and avoiding things and a bit of "collecting" which is just moving to the right spot. No real goal, no narrative.Your on a trail, then in a house, then in a dungeon, then in maze-like hallway, then in water with floating balls of light. No sense, no connective segue. And then you get eaten 1000 times by a giant head until you have to look up what to do and then when you try to do it it doesn't work.Clipped through stuff and off the map a coupel of times.No instructions, vague goals. Black and white visuals don't help this game. Thank god they let turn off the screen effects, they are a headache forming, seizure inducing, nausea fest.Not worth your time unless you want to know NOT what to do when making a horror game. Thankfully I picked this up in a bundle that cost less than teh actual price of this game.. Wander around without a purpose occasionally seeing act of random violence to unknown people by unknown people. This horror game spends no time on world building which drains any impact from the events it shows you.. I couldn't get past the water level because I didn't care enough. I didn't have the patience to run around for 4 minutes to "outlive" that demon woman coming out of the water. Anyways aside from that the game was worth it to a degree bcaause the atmosphere was really interesting/creepy, the sound was really good, and it was much more of a psychological horror than a jump scare one which is always really nice. And as an added bonus it never once dipped below 60fps!The problem came down to the fact that I felt like there were too many monotonous "puzzles" that needed to be solved. I don't even know if that's necessarily the right word, as it was even more so trial and error, but was completely boring in regards to the gameplay because there literally isn't any. The game doesn't tell you what to do, and you end up walking around in circles trying to figure out how to proceed the game with no direction is basically how I can sum the above statement up. All in all I suppose it's worth it for the good things I did mention about it, but only for the buck that it is. I really wouldn't pay any more for it.So if you want a cheap, low budget, short horror game, this should be right up your alley.. I actually really enjoyed The Tape. Here's my review in video form. In turn when the door opens towards you, it ensnares you, forcing you to restart. Truly terrifying.
